June is Seniors Month in Ontario. Here is a list of free activities for Mississauga residents aged 55 and older. Visit the City of Mississauga’s website for event details and links to connect for the virtual activities.

MUSIC & MINGLE — IN-PERSON

Performances by Alison Melville and Colin Savage from Chamber Music Society of Mississauga

Saturday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlands Library. Saturday, June 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Meadowvale Library. Tuesday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Port Credit Memorial Pop Up Library.

INTRODUCTION TO CONVERSATIONAL FRENCH — VIRTUAL

Every Monday in June from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. An opportunity to work on French language skills in a group setting. Includes 30 minutes of lessons followed by 30 minutes of games and discussion.

COFFEE TALK — VIRTUAL Every Tuesday in June from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

June 7 — Mississauga Memories: Gardening in Mississauga. June 14 — Mississauga Memories: History in Mississauga. June 21 — Art tea: Sullivan. Jennifer will discuss artist Françoise Sullivan for Seniors Month. June 28 — Ruby-Throated Hummingbird. Discussion led by Riverwood Conservancy

WEDNESDAY FIT BREAK — VIRTUAL

Every Wednesday in June from 10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. Certified fitness instructors will lead classes on Zoom for all levels. No fitness equipment is required, but household items will be used.

June 1 - Zumba gold. June 8 - Walk fit. June 15 - Chair yoga. June 22 - Strength and stretch. June 29 - Walk fit

HOT TOPICS — VIRTUAL 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A new topic of interest will be presented by guest speakers each week.

June 2 — Creative aging, community arts, and community building.

June 9 — Let’s make art: visible mending.

June 16 — Pearson Airport Terminal Services.

June 23 — Money 101: living well on retirement income.

June 30 — Mississauga Memories: food and cooking in Mississauga.

FRIDAY FIT BREAK — VIRTUAL 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.

Certified fitness instructors on Zoom for all levels. No fitness equipment is required, but household items will be used. June 3 — Sit fit. June 10 — Tai chi. June 17 — Low and tone. June 24 — Drum fit.

· Sunday, August 7, 2022 - Mississauga Big Band Jazz Ensemble: Providing big band jazz music for over 45 years

· Sunday, August 14, 2022 - Bree Taylor: Pop and country music with an upbeat, dynamic performance

· Sunday, August 21, 2022 - Suzi Kory: Country-rock music that brings the rawness of Joan Jett with Stevie Nicks style vocals

· Sunday, August 28, 2022 - Suho Lee & Friends: Jazz-Fusion with a mixture of funk, rock and gospel
